ACADEMY POLICIES

Enrollment and Tuition
• There is a nonrefundable registration fee of $40.
• Enrollment is from the time you enroll until the June recital. It is important to keep this commitment, because the classes progress as a team ending with a group performance piece.
• Tuition is due in monthly increments, or you can also opt to pay in full payments. We do not mail billing statements, but will post a sign reminding parents of payment schedules. Tuition payments are non-refundable, even if a student decides to drop or is absent from classes.
• Tuition is the same each month, regardless of the number of classes within a month. Some months have less or more classes than others, but by June it evens out.
• There is a $25 service charge on all bounced checks. There is a $10 late fee on tuition if it is one week past due. A student will not be permitted to perform in the annual recital if there are any outstanding fees.

•*Deposit all tuition checks into the Tuition Box hanging in the waiting area; please put the student's name on the memo line of the check. All cash payments should be received in the Duo Office and a receipt issued. Please have the exact amount owed, as the studio does not keep money on the premises.

Absences and Tardiness
• Please notify Duo Dance in advance, if your child is going to be absent for any reason.
• A maximum of four make-up classes are permitted, per enrolled class. Classes need to be made-up within a two-week time period. The student’s teacher will recommend an appropriate make-up class.
• Due to class volume, only two students are permitted in a make-up class at one time.
• Holidays are not eligible for make-up classes.
• Tardiness is frowned upon. If a student is late they miss essential warm-ups and risk injury to themselves. If a student is absent or tardy on a regular basis they may be required to take a private lesson.

Class Observation
• There is a maximum of three visitors in a class. The limit is one visitor per student per month. We ask all visitors to remain discreet, by not talking and remaining in their chair. The teacher has the right to ask visitors to leave if she deems it necessary.
• Visitors are allowed to take photos and video of their child during class time, as long as they are not disruptive. Cell phones must be turned off.

Dress Code
• Please see the Summary of Classes for the correct dress attire of each class. Dress codes are strictly enforced, and a student could be asked to sit and observe class if they are not properly suited. Gum is forbidden in class.
• Girls: No jewelry is to be worn during class. Baggy clothing is not permitted; there are wrap-around dance sweaters for purchase at dance shops that are appropriate in colder weather.
• Boys: The attire is a white t-shirt tucked into form-fitting black dance pants. Ballet shoes should be white and worn with white socks. Tap shoes should be black and worn with black socks. Jazz shoes should be black and worn with a solid color t-shirt.
• Shoes: Please make sure that the student’s name is marked on the bottom of every dance shoe they own. Tap shoestrings should be replaced with elastic. Dance shoes should not be worn outside, but reserved for the dance studio.
• Hair: Hair should be pulled back and off the face. For ballet hair must be worn in a bun. For tap and jazz hair must be worn in a ponytail. If hair is too short then it must be combed and styled off of the face.

Private lesson: $40 per ½ hour
